Wichita, located in the south central part of the state, is the most populated city in Kansas. The latest census information estimates the population of Wichita to be around 360,000. Wichita is known as the 'air capitol of the world' because of the aircraft manufacturers that are based in the city, including Cessna Aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft, Learjet, Spirit Aerosystems, and others.

Wichita has consistently ranked high in 'quality of living' surveys and in 2008, MSN Real Estate ranked Wichita first on its list of best affordable cities.

Wichita weather can be unpredictable and the area is known for severe weather in the spring and early summer. Large hail, lightning, and tornadoes usually occur in strong storms that frequent this time of year. The rest of the year brings an average high temperature of 67 and a low of 45 degrees.
